Memorial Medical Center’s Candy Canga-Picar honored for nursing excellence
MODESTO –September 14, 2009 – Longtime Memorial Medical Center nurse Candy Canga-Picar, RN, BSN, MBA, manager of Surgical and Nursing Support Services, has been named as one of five finalists in the 2009 California NurseWeek Nursing Excellence Awards (management category) presented by the publisher of NurseWeek Magazine, the leading source of local and national nursing news. The finalists will be honored at an awards gala in Garden Grove on September 25.
Canga-Picar joined Memorial’s staff in October 1995. During her tenure at Memorial, she led the Skilled Nursing Facility to earn two perfect surveys from the Department of Health Services and obtained her master’s degree in business administration. In 2008, she led the Surgical Unit to help Memorial obtain Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence designation from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In March 2009, her department ranked eighth place nationwide in the Press-Ganey Inpatient Satisfaction Survey’s Surgical Subspecialty.
