Memorial Cancer Services Invites the Public to Walk or Run with Team Challenge

MODESTO – January 9, 2009 – The public is invited to join Memorial Medical Center in an ongoing Team Challenge to support the fight against cancer in our community. The group meets at the Modesto Junior College Track on the East Campus every Thursday evening at 6 p.m.

Team Challenge provides an organization in which people whose lives have been touched by cancer may walk or run together with like-minded individuals, showing their support of cancer issues, raising cancer awareness, promoting exercise and healthy lifestyles, and giving special meaning to being active with a group on a regular basis. Cancer survivors are invited to participate, but the membership of Team Challenge is unrestricted and may include caregivers, friends and family members. Participants must be age 14 or older. A one-time registration fee of $20 per person includes a team shirt.

Program participants who wish to walk or run will be offered different distances for which to train and coached by experienced volunteers. The future plan is for the group to participate as a team in local events.

For information about Team Challenge, call Memorial’s Cancer Services at 569-7789.
