Oncology Unit

Located on the fifth floor of Memorial Medical Center, our Oncology Department provides a comfortable environment for cancer treatment including chemotherapy, biotherapy, pain management, radiation therapy implantation, symptom management, palliative care (treatment given to relieve symptoms, not to cure disease) and hospice care. The department contains its own specialized pharmacy and social services.
IV Therapy

An Intravenous (IV) Therapist is available to support the patient's IV therapy needs in both inpatient and outpatient settings. An IV Therapist is a registered nurse who inserts IVs into a patient's arm so the patient can receive medication through a vein. IV Therapists are certified in both IV therapy and chemotherapy.
Pharmacy Services

Specialized pharmacy services support the needs of all patients hospitalized in the Oncology Department, supplying medications in a timely manner upon receipt of written orders from each patient's physician.
Pain and Palliative Care

Memorial is currently developing a new Pain and Palliative Care Program with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families, optimizing function, helping with decision-making and providing opportunities for personal growth. Pain and palliative care may be delivered concurrently with life-prolonging treatments, or as the main focus of end-of-life care.
Music Therapy

Music is a form of sensory stimulation that provokes responses due to the familiarity, predictability and feelings of security associated with it. Research shows that music therapy can be used in the health care setting to effect positive changes in the psychological, physical, cognitive or social functioning of individuals with health problems.
