Providing Couplet Care

The staff of the Family Birthing Center is excited to provide Couplet Care to the patients who deliver their babies at Memorial Medical Center.

Couplet Care means that the mother and baby will be cared for by one nurse, and allows mothers and their babies to remain together throughout their hospital stay. A mother and her baby will benefit by being a family unit immediately after birth.

In addition, communication is enhanced between health care providers, including obstetricians and pediatricians working with one nurse familiar with the care for both mom and baby.
